Cannabis News

The University of New Mexico recently conducted a study regarding CBD and neuropathic pain. The study utilized whole plant CBD oil and mice to obtain its results. In the mice studied, pain was reduced for several hours when postoperative neuropathic pain was examined.

This is the first in a series of studies planned only utilized CBD with low THC, The University of New Mexico reported. The goal is to determine ideal alternatives to pharmaceuticals and opioids for treating chronic pain. Opioids are currently the typical course of treatment for post-operative pain.

Dr. Jacob Miguel Vigil said, “Cannabis plants with low THC are still psychoactive, but tend to result in fewer psychedelic experiences, while still offering profound and often immediate relief from symptoms such as pain, anxiety, and depression.”

It’s unknown if the researchers will attempt to conduct this study on humans.
