NM Company to Build North America’s Largest Cannabis Cultivation Center

Ultra Health is already the highest producing marijuana company in New Mexico, but it has its sights set even higher: to build the state’s largest medical marijuana and hemp cultivation facility. The facility will be located in Tularosa and is expected to be just over 8.7 million square feet.

The size would make it the largest cultivation site in the state and in the U.S., according to Albuquerque Business First. The state is expecting a new governor, and several candidates, including Jeff Apodaca, who support recreational legalization. Ultra Health is preparing for legalization in advance.

The company says that 100 acres of outdoor space will be devoted to industrial hemp. There will be another 80 acres of outdoor marijuana fields and 20 acres of indoor cultivation allotted. The production buildings are estimated to use 120,000 sqft. of space.

The site chosen benefits the company as it also attains secure water rights to 1,000 acre feet of water, which is about 325.9 million gallons annually. It’s also a great location for natural sunlight to aid the outdoor cultivation operations.

Duke Rodriguez of Ultra Health said, “Ultra Health Tularosa was conceived to solve a challenge and to seize an opportunity. This new facility will ensure the commitment of continuing to produce and deliver the highest quality, most affordable and convenient cannabis in the state.”

Otero County representatives support the new facility.

The Otero County Board of Commissioners said to Rodriguez via letter that, “Your company will bring much needed jobs and economic development to our county and we offer our support to your project.”

At least 100 local jobs will become available.
