Albuquerque City Council Members Are Pushing to Decriminalize Marijuana

NM Canna

Two Albuquerque city council members are pushing for marijuana decriminalization. Pat Davis and Isaac Benton will be introducing an ordinance to decriminalize the possession of one ounce or less of marijuana within city limits.

The ordinance is slated to be introduced at the March 5 meeting, KRQE 13 News reports. If the ordinance garners the required support, it will move onto the finance and government operations committee.

The current penalty for possessing an ounce or less of marijuana in the state is up to 15 days in jail or a $100 fine.
