A clinical trial published in The Permanente Journal found that plant-derived CBD (cannabidiol) is associated with reduced anxiety and improved sleep quality.
Patients were given 25mg daily doses of CBD in a capsule form for one to three months, NORML reported.
“Anxiety scores decreased within the first month in 57 patients (79.2%) and remained decreased during the study duration,” the researchers reported. “Sleep scores improved within the first month in 48 patients (66.7%) but fluctuated over time.”
CBD was “well tolerated” among the clinical trial patients, “with few patients reporting side effects.”
