Next U.S. Attorney General Has a Full-Blown Case of Reefer Madness

Jeff Sessions Marijuana

The new Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, is adamantly against marijuana and has no plans to assist in efforts to legalize it. The Alabama senator has seen a great deal of criticism from his constituents regarding his use of language in certain situations and his overall views.

Jeff Sessions also thinks that the KKK is okay, according to Esquire. In regards to marijuana, Sessions says, “good people don’t smoke marijuana.”  Sessions ignores the recent findings that marijuana is not a gateway drug and studies showing that marijuana is not a big player in traffic deaths.

Sessions said, “We need grown-ups in charge in Washington saying marijuana is not the kind of thing that ought to be legalized, it ought to be minimized, that is, in fact, a very real danger. You can see the accidents, traffic deaths related to marijuana. And you’ll see cocaine and heroin increase more than it would have, I think.”

He also stated, “I think one of [Obama’s] great failures, it’s obvious to me, is his lax treatment in comments on marijuana. It reverses 20 years almost of hostility to drugs that began really when Nancy Reagan started ‘Just Say No’.”

If Sessions chooses to retract the progress that has been made in the U.S. toward ending prohibition, it would directly conflict with “states’ rights.” The reality is, he will likely try to get the federal government to crack down on marijuana.

Citizens will need to contact their local and state representatives to express their opinion on marijuana legalization and Jeff Sessions in order to stop him from damaging the legal marijuana industry.
